Why We Peel Our Sweet PAWtato Chews-

That’s why we peel every sweet potato before turning it into a Sweet PAWtato Chew—even though many companies skip this step. Sweet potatoes and regular potatoes both contain naturally occurring compounds called oxalates. While oxalates are harmless to us, they can be tough on a dog’s digestive system and may lead to issues like kidney or bladder stones and urinary tract problems. By peeling our sweet potatoes, we significantly reduce the oxalate levels, ensuring a healthier treat. Boiling can also reduce oxalates but also remove some of the essential nutrients. As we recently got a new yellow lab puppy, there had to be a war between this one and the older dog for the long rawhide bones and chew toys. Looking into the process, you can see there is a lot of bleaching and chemicals added to get the "rawhide" the way it is. I suppose they are just dogs, but then at the same time my wife is buying fancy dog food to meet all of their nutritional requirements, so why not their snack food as well. My dogs love them. I have an older dog with kidney disease and a 7 year old dog. It's hard finding a treat that is not high in protein. Just because they are older dogs does not mean they do not want treats. My dogs are very active and love going hiking . They enjoy having the sweet potato chews on the trail. I feel good being able to give them a healthy treat.

My shih Tzu loves these sweet potato chews! Great healthy alternative to get her to chew. I like to alternate giving her these & dental sticks to clean her teeth and keep her occupied for a little bit. She tends to choke on some of the rawhide chews, which scares me, but these have never been a problem. I'm so glad we found them! :-)
